While the concept of Wi-Fi is fairly simple, there are many reasons why the Wi-Fi performance in your property may not be very good.  These include the property construction, the location of the router, too many devices for your router and the presence of other Wi-Fi networks.  If you're suffering from slow downloads, buffering, drop outs or an inability to connect, you need a Wi-Fi HealthCheck to identify the root cause of your issue.  When you understand why your Wi-Fi is poor, you can take the appropriate steps to make it better.

Our HealthCheck comprises four main activities.  

1. A discussion to understand your set up and your devices.  We'll make a note of your broadband service, your router and your devices.  This will include your phones, tablets, PCs and smart devices such as TVs and speakers.
2. Wired and wireless speed tests to confirm the current performance levels.
3. Radio surveys to record measurements relating to the radio signals passing through your property.  These include signal level, signal to noise ratio and interference.  We will complete the radio surveys at the busiest two locations in your property for Wi-Fi usage.
4. An assessment of your current Wi-Fi security arrangements.

By understanding what equipment you are using and what is happening on the airwaves, we will be able to identify the reason why your Wi-Fi is not performing very well.

The reason(s) for poor performance is usually one or more of the following:

1. The Wi-Fi signal level is too weak.
2. There are too many Wi-Fi signals.
3. There are too many devices trying to connect.
4. There is a source of radio interference.
5. The equipment is using old Wi-Fi standards.
6. The broadband service isn't fast enough.

In our experience, the solution to poor performance will be one or more of the following:

1. The router needs to be relocated to a new position.
2. The router needs to be reconfigured.
3. The router needs to be complemented with a different type of Wi-Fi solution, e.g. a 'mesh.'
4. The broadband service needs to be upgraded to a higher speed.

The HealthCheck report will give you:

• A summary of your current position
• An analysis of the radio spectrum in your property
• An analysis of your security arrangements
• A set of recommendations to consider

After sending you your HealthCheck report, we'll schedule a Zoom call to answer any questions you may have on the content.  After the call, you are free to implement the recommendations in your own time.  We would welcome the opportunity to provide further assistance but this would be chargeable on an hourly rate basis.
